Autumn Is Here

Fall. Finally. Finally! I love this time of year, don’t you? No more temperatures in the 90's (make that upper 90's), warm days, cools nights and yet we are still a good way from the "it's FREEZING!" weather.

Perfect baking weather. You can actually turn on your ovens without turning up the AC. AND did I mention the wonderful smells of fall baking - the spicy-sweet smells of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and apples that usher in the fall season - YUMM!

Along with the usual list of cakes that I bake year round, I know I will be baking up pumpkin pies, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cheesecake - pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin! These are always favorites at our family celebrations and I am sure this year will be no different. In fact, my daughter has already put her "Thanksgiving request" in for her favorite - Carrot Cake AND Pumpkin Cheesecake with Ginger-pecan crust.

For my CakeCrumbs customers, I am once again offering a huge, decadent Red Velvet Cake that will be impressive on any Holiday buffet for $35.

Also for the fall, I have added a brand new pound cake - Bourbon Pecan-Coconut Pound Cake with a hint of bourbon and studded with pecans and coconut for $20 Delicious!

Check out the list of other great cakes offered through CakeCrumbs below.

Valentine's Day Is Almost Here!

Wow - it has been a busy three months since the inception of CakeCrumbs. I am looking forward to a new year with new cakes and experiences. A very special thank you to my old and new customers who have supported my baking efforts. From the feedback I have received thus far, it seems everyone has thoroughly enjoyed their selections.

Speaking of selections - Valentine's Day is just around the corner so I want to offer something special - Chocolate Lover's Sweetheart Cake. And who doesn't love chocolate? This cake pairs deep, dark chocolate cake layers with a raspberry glaze which is then topped with raspberry cream cheese frosting between the layers. The entire cake is then frosted with more chocolate and topped with fresh raspberries - yum! Get your orders in now for a special treat for Valentine's Day! As always, this will be a three tier, nine inch cake, and the cost for this selection will be $35.

As always my cakes are made fresh with only the highest quality ingredients - real butter, cream, cream cheese, chocolate and top quality fruits and nuts. To place your order call 678-316-8872 or email joyc.carter.wilson@gmail.com. Please allow 48 hours for orders. See new cake price list below.

Holiday Cakes - Limited Edition

Thank you to everyone who ordered cakes over the last month! It has been lots of fun baking up everyone's favorites. Which - by the way - it was very interesting to see how varied everyone's taste have been. In my mind Thanksgiving is the time of year for Carrot Cake, Hummingbird or Italian Cream but most of my orders  were for Coconut, Chocolate, Strawberry and most of all German Chocolate. I guess when it comes right down to it, you should enjoy your favorites no matter what time of year!

During the Holidays, do you ever feel like you have so many things you are juggling that you don’t ever actually accomplish anything?   The holidays are busy for everyone between shopping, decorating, spending time with family and going to parties, it’s just hard to get it all done. Why don’t you let me help by taking one task off of your hands? Why not share a delicious cake from Cakecrumbs?

Speaking of the time of year - I wanted to offer something special for the Holidays. For a limited time you can order Red Velvet Cake - a decadent, moist deep red cake with rich cream cheese frosting. So just give me a call and place your order now and take a delightful cake to your next Holiday party or gathering.

Good for the Soul

You know you have been bitten by the sugar-plum fairy when just thinking about sifting flour, creaming butter and the smell of fresh baked cake stirs your soul. There are days when I wake up thinking about "what am I going to bake today" and can't wait to get into the kitchen to begin the measuring and stirring.

With the start of CakeCrumbs I am now going to have a lot more opportunities (I hope) to bake, bake, bake! I have always looked for "excuses" to bake up goodies. Baking is my way of de-stressing after a hectic day - the simplicity of measuring ingredients, combining them and then experiencing the delicious smell of fresh baked cakes just makes my day and makes me smile.

My first experience with baking began as a child. I remember working with playdoh and making the best cakes and cookies my imagination could come up with. The only problem was they were a bit tasteless. My next request was for an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas. I couldn't wait to open my gifts to see if I had received the one present I wanted the most. When I saw my Easy Bake Oven, I was thrilled. I was so happy and excited that I used all my cake mix up in one day. Growing up I would always find excuses to be in the kitchen helping my mother with food preparation and especially baking.  I realize now that is where my passion and love of baking homemade desserts began.

My family and friends have often said to me “You need to start your own business”. I never really thought about my enthusiasm for baking cakes as a business. But one day my sister told me about a new little business that she had started crocheting hats and scarves and I told her "I wish I had something that I could do in my spare time as well." She immediately told me - again - that I should bake and it finally clicked. CakeCrumbs Homemade Cakes was born.

Here are a few pictures of several cakes that I recently baked - Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake and Coconut Cake.

If you are interested in ordering any of the cakes listed on the flyer below, just contact me by phone or email and I will head straight home to the "heart of my home" and start baking.
