Good for the Soul

You know you have been bitten by the sugar-plum fairy when just thinking about sifting flour, creaming butter and the smell of fresh baked cake stirs your soul. There are days when I wake up thinking about "what am I going to bake today" and can't wait to get into the kitchen to begin the measuring and stirring.

With the start of CakeCrumbs I am now going to have a lot more opportunities (I hope) to bake, bake, bake! I have always looked for "excuses" to bake up goodies. Baking is my way of de-stressing after a hectic day - the simplicity of measuring ingredients, combining them and then experiencing the delicious smell of fresh baked cakes just makes my day and makes me smile.

My first experience with baking began as a child. I remember working with playdoh and making the best cakes and cookies my imagination could come up with. The only problem was they were a bit tasteless. My next request was for an Easy Bake Oven for Christmas. I couldn't wait to open my gifts to see if I had received the one present I wanted the most. When I saw my Easy Bake Oven, I was thrilled. I was so happy and excited that I used all my cake mix up in one day. Growing up I would always find excuses to be in the kitchen helping my mother with food preparation and especially baking.  I realize now that is where my passion and love of baking homemade desserts began.

My family and friends have often said to me “You need to start your own business”. I never really thought about my enthusiasm for baking cakes as a business. But one day my sister told me about a new little business that she had started crocheting hats and scarves and I told her "I wish I had something that I could do in my spare time as well." She immediately told me - again - that I should bake and it finally clicked. CakeCrumbs Homemade Cakes was born.

Here are a few pictures of several cakes that I recently baked - Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake and Coconut Cake.

If you are interested in ordering any of the cakes listed on the flyer below, just contact me by phone or email and I will head straight home to the "heart of my home" and start baking.
